• Fitch Obturators are olive tipped, for use with plastic vena cava catheters in open heart surgery. These obturators permit introduction of the venous drainage catheters into the right atrium and vena cava. Olive shaped tip allows easy introduction through a purse-stringed site in the right atrium. The elongated head of the obturator is designed to block any blood entering the multiple perforations of the catheter during introduction. The malleable shaft permits control of the catheter tip in the right atrium and appropriately precurving the shaft allows the catheter to be steered into either vena cava.
