The 0.5 mm ring tip forceps are designed for the mammary/coronary arteries and other 1-3 mm sized vessels (e.g., tibial arteries in the lower leg). The 1.5 mm ring tip forceps are designed for larger vessels such as the saphenous vein, femoral arteries, etc. The ring tip forceps allows for a more secure grip on the tissue, yet it still has a very fine tip. The sizing 1.5 mm and 0.5 mm pertains to the size of the hole in the tip.
