• The Wolvek system with its unique suture locking device affords positive, secure sternal approximation and elimination of the problems associated with twisted wire. Only the following sternal sutures and needles should be used with locking plates. Deknatel® Product No. 29-7271M4. Ethicon Product No. M650. The suture wire supplied by these manufacturers is made from type 316L stainless steel as are the locking plates. Suture wire of unknown origin or the locking plates. Suture wire of unknown origin or type may not be metallurgically compatible with the locking plates.

• Eliminates need for twisting wire.
• More secure closure, at least twice the tensile strength of twisted wire.
